Coloured Cork

One of nature’s few renewable resources; cork is not only highly sustainable but is also environmentally friendly. Cork is hand harvested by peeling away the bark without damaging the tree in any way. This elimination of felling the Cork Oak tree, which matures up to 250 years, produces a positive environmental impact through the carbon capture and storage process that occurs naturally within the tree.

Inherently insulating, cork tiles are warm underfoot in winter, and refreshingly cool in summer. The natural, cushioning property of cork produces a floor that is luxurious and gentle to walk on. This same attribute produces a “springy' resilience that protects the floor from excessive foot traffic and general impacts.

The unique acoustic and sound dampening structure of cork reduces reverberation and prevents noise transference between rooms, creating a peaceful and quiet haven, even in the busiest of homes.

Cork is a hard wearing floor for life and is considered to be warm in Winter, and cool underfoot in Summer. It can be resurfaced and resanded bringing life back to the floor after years of wear. Cork provides a fuss free alternative to timber and is perfect for use in high traffic and wet areas.

Our Products

Cork Interiors has been supplying and installing cork flooring products in and around Brisbane since 1971 and as such have a wealth of knowledge and experience in the installation of cork flooring.

We have a proud history of providing an exceptional product and service to our customers and we offer a full supply and installation service to take the hassle out of your flooring experience.

Cork is a beautiful natural flooring product so some shade variation will be seen in any floor which is unavoidable, but we consider this adds character to the floor.

Styles

The versatility of cork is expressed in the variety of styles and range of colours available.

All our tiles are sanded and surfaced with three heavy coats of polyurethane to a selected finish of either Matt, Satin or Gloss at your request.

Types of Installation

Installation may take anywhere between 4 days and 14 days to complete, depending on the size of the flooring area. There are two key types of installation:

Direct Stick

This process involves adhering the cork tiles directly to the sub-floor. It is particularly suitable for plywood, chipboard and concrete floors in new homes where the floor is level and clean.

On Underlay

The cork tiles are installed on an underlay such as masonite which has been secured to a suitable sub-floor. This process is useful in older timber homes or where the sub-floor is uneven and rough.

As with any floor, preparation is the key to ensuring a high quality finish.
